This new educational video provides patient-friendly information about clinical trials, which are carefully designed research studies that test how new medical approaches, such as drugs, work compared to current standard treatments. Clinical trials try to find better ways to prevent, diagnose, screen and treat diseases such as ovarian cancer.
Realizing that many ovarian cancer patients are unaware of clinical trials as an option, or may find the prospect of enrolling in a trial intimidating or confusing, OCRF created this video to help empower them and their loved ones with information. The video explains why clinical trials are important and how they are funded, describes the different phases of trials, addresses misconceptions, communicates the benefits of participating in clinical trials, and provides reliable information and resources.
Presented by a physician and a research scientist, both experts in the field of ovarian cancer, this video provides important information in clear and simple language that is easily understandable by non-medical professionals. An ovarian cancer survivor and clinical trials participant offers the patient perspective, and valuable advice from her own experiences.
